(Albuquerque, NM): University of New Mexico Press, 1989.  First edition.  The scarce hardcover issue.  Quarto.  58 pages plus portfolio of black and white photographic images.  Foreword by Cornell Capa.  Introduction by A. D. Coleman.  Emmet’s vastly under-rated photographic documentation of the Tindal family as they traverse America, Florida, California, upstate New York and the Carolina’s in search of fruit and vegetable picking working.  Covering a period of ten years Emmet documents their daily life providing a valuable record of an often overlooked segment of America’s rural poor.  This copy with library discard stamp to bottom edge, library stamp to title page, library pocket to rear endpaper, some tape residue to boards and spine label to dust jacket. In all other respects, a near fine copy in jacket.  Just 500 hard bound copies were issued, most like this destined for the library system.
