(London): Gimme 5 and DoBeDo, 2018. First edition. Hardcover. 25.5cm by 17.5cm. Unpaginated. A striking portfolio of black‑and‑white portrait photography captured by Steve Brooks during the 1990s and early 2000s. Brooks, co-owner of the iconic “Cuts” hair salon in Kensington Market—founded by James Lebon in 1978—documented the vibrant personalities who passed through its doors. These intimate triptychs were once displayed as contact-sheet enlargements in the salon’s Soho window: transient visual diaries replaced only when the next roll was developed and then they were forgotten. Rediscovered by Sarah Lewis, and presented in this volume as a valuable record of the cult institution and its Soho clientele from a significant era in London's cultural history. This a fine copy in dust jacket. Published in an edition of 500 copies. This example signed by Brooks.
